The Wrecking Crew >>>We are semi-crazed mountain bikers who are continually exploring new terrain, and we are courteous and careful in our techniques and are respective of other trail users and our environment. Wipeouts, Endos, Headers, and Crashes are part of mountain biking (and all five of us have had our share!). As a rule, however, we have only sustained slight injuries over the past years and would consider ourselves to be safe riders. We have damaged a lot of mountain bikes in our "careers" (especially MaNiMaL), and like to ride em' hard. The crew has a Doctor, an Internet Security Consultant, an International Publisher, an Engineer, and a Bike Mechanic and Fitness Trainer. Please note that a percentage of our store sales are used to help support the sport of mountainbiking both locally, nationally, and globally.
*Webmountainbike is committed to helping to aid in the preservation of our environment, and the plants and animals sharing the earth with us!! A percentage of each sale will go to one of the environmental organizations we select - and we recycle all materials used in shipping and processing our orders, as well as use eco-friendly practices in our business and while riding the trails.
"MANIMAL" is an experienced mountain rider who specializes in rocks, logs, game trails, difficult single track, mountain medicine and the weather conditions. At 6'6" tall, and 250 lbs., he is as much of a beast as the 37 lb. Cannondale he currently rides...he also keeps 3 mountain bikes - one to ride, one under repair, and one as a spare!
"TROUT" is an experienced mountain guide and has backpacked extensively in the U.S. and Canada, enjoys good navigation and trail finding abilities, and excels at downhill (and now climbing too...)Trout has worked in Colorado as a Ranger at the Cherry Creek Reservoir, and rode his mtb. to work. He has also worked in the winter at the Snowbiking program in Keystone, and as an instructor at Snowbasin Utah, helped handicapped skiers at Winter Park for the N.A.D.S., and guided in Moab, Sedona, and Colorado for mtb tours.
"CORD" loves his hardtail and has learned to ride it thru conditions many full suspension riders would have trouble with, and has great mechanical and naturalist skills. Also, scopes out new trails for the CREW, and loves to camp out between rides. However, a recent marriage has put his mtb'ing career on hold for a bit!
"BROZONE" heads up the Crew’s Pennsylvania delegation and enjoys exploring Eastern PA’s rocky trails. He likes a technical challenge and has the scar tissue to prove it! Currently he’s riding a full-suspension Specialized XC Pro (and loving it), but he still takes his GT hardtail out for an occasional change of pace. Brozone likes it hot and pedals for most of the spring, summer, and fall – but once the icy Pennsylvania winter hits he has a hard time getting enough riding in. How did he end up in the Great White North?
"MYKE" the bike guy is an all around exceptional rider, mechanic, spin trainer, bike builder, answer man, and has been in bikes since he was a kid! Hard to keep up with on the trail, Myke is in excellent shape & great at technical riding whether on the road or off... Nice to have as a riding partner, as he can fix almost anything trailside, but you better HURRY to keep up with him!
"GACKO",pictured above, is among other things, a yellow Labrador Retriever. He is a charter member of the Wrecking Crew, and the lead dog out on the trail and around town. His acute sense of hearing and smell alert the Crew to the presence of others in the woods, whether they be man or beast! Gacko is a "safety nut" and refused to remove his helmet for this pic! He loves to scout new trails and lead the pack on new adventures. Gacko is a hound's hound, who is happiest to greet others of his own kind. But children and free spirits of all kinds give him supernatural delight. Gacko came to an untimely death, as he was hit by a snowboarder in Winter Park Colorado, and died in his owner's arms in 2003...
