The wrecking crew took to the hills for their spring tour Memorial Day weekend. A favorite campsite in George Washington National Forest along the border of Va./W.Va. was the destination. Camp was set up and loop rides were planned.

A 12 mile loop ride was completed the 1st day under glorious sunshine. A climb at the start of the ride through blooming mountain laurels on tight singletrack gave way to splendid mountain top ridge riding. A well deserved lunch break at Sandstone Spring provided some rest and carbo's to continue the ride to Sugar Knob. From Sugar Knob it was pure bliss down narrow singletrack alongside Stony Creek and through ancient hemlocks. A creekside rest stop on the stones by the creek near the end of this trail made the ride complete. We were stoked.

The 2nd day was a rain event and a shortened loop ride of 6 miles was ad-libbed and completed. Back at camp, bike maintenance was performed on our steeds under a large protective tarp while a light rain descended from gray skies.

The crew dined like kings over the campfire (see MENU) and were enchanted as the whip-poor-will's began their nightly serenade at sundown. Gacko had his own shelter this time (under Trout's hammock) and did not have to fight off camp raiding skunks as he has in the past (the skunks won).
