  
Here are some tips for your indoor workouts on the trainer...
*You can train at any hour of the day or night regardless of the weather, at your own convenience.*
*You can save time... no driving or gearing up for a winter ride. No clothes or gear to hassle with, and no bike to clean. Of course, you miss the "Great Outdoors" so don't make a habit of it. Use it as a supplement to your regular outdoor riding to build leg strength and stamina.*
*You are safer on the trainer. Less chance of an accident or wipeout, and no dogs to deal with. Make sure your trainer is stable and operating properly.*
*Limit your workouts to under an hour to keep them fun and effective. Watch TV, listen to some tunes, put on your trainer video on the VCR, some mtb'ing videos, or just go into the vege mode... Do different drills every couple of minutes and change riding position and weight shifting. Change resistance, speed, and intensity often.*
*Select the proper trainer. Consider wind vs. magnetic, and what type of tire you need. Some trainers contact the rim, not the tire, and prevent tire wear and the need for slicks on your bike.*
*Use a fan mounted nearby to blow cool air to simulate riding, or crack open a window. Put your trainer in the basement (check for Radon) or garage, and not in a hot room... Drink adequate sports drinks to stay hydrated.*
*Always begin your session with a warm-up, and end with a cool down.*
*Trainers are a great way to stay in shape if you can't get out and ride, but our personal philosophy to ride outdoors whenever possible. Let's face it, the trainer can get boring... Consider riding at night if your schedule permits this. RIDE ON ~~Stan~~*
