Word from Cord Jan./Feb.2002 You call This winter? Glossary: Muddites - People who inhabit the neverworld between ice and water (latent heat). Scrapey - The art? of riding solid ice slopes. Not related to mad-cow disease, although.... _________________________________________________ Winter 2002 has yet to get here in the east....it seems. Cord has managed only a couple of slope trips this season due to horrendously poor snow conditions all "winter" in the east. A recent trip laid bare the dire situation we are in as we march toward March. We felt as muddites (see glossary) would feel as we stepped toward the slopes. Diligently monitoring the potential snowfall all winter, we had hoped to ride some of the white stuff falling/fallen/fell. No..luck.. Mother nature has given Siberia the core of the cold stuff for the 3rd consecutive winter, as they once again set records. They (Russians) revel in 12' high "driftski's" while we see brown mud and practice scrapey (see glossary) upon the non-mud. We hear about a backload of snow coming in March however, but We are numb to the thought.
